Agenda was born in 2015, following the Corston Report (2007), which argued for a radically different approach to the needs of women in the criminal justice system.
A consultation with organisations working in this space showed the need for an alliance, to bring together the voluntary sector to advocate for women and girls with the most complex unmet needs.
Since then, Agenda’s Alliance has grown to over 100 member organisations – from large, national bodies to smaller, specialist organisations. We work in collaboration to influence public policy and practice to respond appropriately to women and girls with unmet needs, and you can see some of our joint projects and campaigns here.
In 2023, there was a renewed focus on the Alliance, which is set to be even more impactful and powerful than ever before. Together, we will be working hard to prevent further harm to women and girls, which includes any harm done by the voluntary sector, as well as the public sector. The Alliance is interested in systemic change, so that women and girls' needs can be met much earlier and more effectively.
