Women in Mind
Agenda Alliance’s campaign to keep women’s mental health needs in mind.

Agenda response to the CQC report 'Monitoring the Mental Health Act 2016-17'.
Katharine Sacks-Jones, Director Agenda, the alliance for women and girls at risk, and co-chair of the Women’s Mental Health Taskforce at the Department of Health says:
“The growing pressure on mental health support for women detained under the Mental Health Act is gravely concerning.
“Women are being trapped in high secure care – and even segregation – for long periods of time, often far from their homes and families, because there is nowhere else for them to go.
“This is completely unacceptable and results in women, many of whom have experienced violence and abuse, failing to get the care they need.
“It is vital we see investment in mental health services across the board but also that those services take into account women and girls’ particular needs and experiences, especially of abuse and trauma.”
