Agenda Alliance’s Deputy CEO (Alliance Development), Jess Southgate, outlines the purpose of our membership survey, and how it will support a plan for a renewed and empowered Alliance as we move into the future.
Agenda’s Alliance members are at the heart of all that we do. It is only with the support, partnership and expertise of our members, and those they work with, that we can hope to make a difference to the lives of women and girls at the sharpest end of inequality.
Our founding roots are grounded in the understanding that system-wide transformation is needed to truly change the lives of women and girls with unmet needs. But organisations cannot achieve this without greater collaborative working across the sector and a strengthened united voice.
We regularly work with our Alliance members to carry out research, campaign to influence policy nationally and regionally, share our messages widely, bring organisations together from different parts of the sector, and work with women and girls with lived experience as advocates for change. Some of our greatest successes have come from working in this way – from generating a Government commitment to produce a strategy for young women in the justice system, working locally in Greater Manchester to deliver improvements for women with multiple unmet needs, to enabling thousands of women to access mental health peer support across the country. It is only by working together that we can hope to foster a cohesive, joined-up approach to systemic change.
But we know we can do more. Our goal within our current Agenda Alliance strategy 2022-27 is to convene an Alliance that is empowered and cohesive and has regular opportunities to influence public policy and practice to respond appropriately to women and girls with unmet needs. We want our members to feel embedded in all our work, know how they can get involved and feel the value and impact of working with us.
To help us understand how best to do this, we are carrying out a review to understand our membership in the context of our new organisational strategy and strategic goals, and to develop a plan for a renewed and empowered Alliance as we move into the future.
As part of this, we are running a membership survey (until 26 November 2023) to understand your views on Agenda’s approach, the way we currently work with our Alliance members and what more we could be doing to achieve the change we want to see. With your help, we will reinvigorate the Agenda Alliance so that our members are an even more central part of our social movement to end the cycle of trauma and harm so that all women and girls can thrive.
If you are an Agenda Alliance member, or your organisation has worked closely with us as a partner or ally, we would love to hear from you.
